| The National Referral Centre for Lead Poisoning in India is a non-profit joint undertaking of St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences and The George Foundation. It is one of the premier NGO in health sector which is known for the high standard of quality of life for every person in this earth. NRCLPI has initiated global networking effort to limit childhood as well as general public lead poisoning problem from our society. Mission & Vision - To conduct awareness programme for the public for the prevention of Lead Poisoning, as many of them are unaware of the epidemic of lead hazards.
- To offer good quality of life to each individual and advice to facilitate good health care.
- To generate a first Lead Map of Bangalore & Chennai for the benefit of individuals.
- To interact with academic institute, research institute, industrial area, state pollution control board, road transport department & other corporate world for mutual benefit.
Work at NRCLPI - Offer a referral and confirmatory lead testing service for blood samples received at the centre from anywhere in India.
- Disseminate relevant information on lead poisoning to government authorities, NGOs, clinician treating lead poisoning cases and other institution concerned, and create awareness among the general public through education, documentation and media communication.
- Screen for lead poisoning by evaluating blood lead levels using established international standards and protocols.
Provide consultancy services to employees of lead based industries in evaluating, monitoring and eliminating workplace lead poisoning. - Maintain a national database of lead poison levels in different segments of the population, and disseminate information pertaining to the current status of the problem to all concerned govermental agencies and other institution.
- Organize training programs for healthcare organizations on prevention early detection of lead poisoning.
- Create awareness among the public through the media, publication and outreach programs. Researchers and academicians involved in research activities in the field of toxicology with special reference to lead.
